On your doorstep we have a Post Office & Shop ran by David and Elaine and two part-timers Janet and Ruth. It has all the convenience items you would expect including daily Newspapers, essentials items you may have forgotten like toothpaste & aspirin to help cure your head after trying the local cider! and other such goodies. Weekend guests, please note they close at 1230 hrs on Saturdays and are not open on Sundays.
Opposite the Post Office is the Bus Stop to Bath and on the same side of the Post Office is the Bus Stop to Frome both have updated time-tables displayed and are very regular and value for money. (saves parking fees which are horrendous in Bath!)
We also have in the Village ChocOnChoc – a family run business making fancy chocolate, see their website for goodies and if you ring in advance, tours are available with goodie bags, alternatively you can buy some of their selection at the Post Office. Visit www.chocolateonchocolate.co.uk
Interesting point – soon to be aired on ITV is a Drama based on a real life incident that happened in the Village in the 18th Century its location being Rode House which is now re-named Langham House. The name of the Drama, taken from a very detailed and lengthy book is ‘The Suspicions of Mr Whitchner’. Lots of tourists have read the book and come with cameras in hand to take pictures but it is a walled residence so only roof-tops can be seen. I won’t give away the plot it will spoil your reading, viewing of same.
Fussels* Fine Foods Co – You may know that our establishment is built on the old Fussels Brewery Site which after trading ceased used the surrounding land to produce Rapeseed Oil and other lovely flavoured oils. Visit www.fusselsfinefood.co.uk – They are a local family who are very generous with their land so if you are out walking you cannot avoid the public footpaths that take you through this stunning countryside setting. They also welcome dogs on the fields as long as no live stock are present and no rapeseed growing – please respect the area by taking your poop bags!
We have a selection of 'attraction leaflets' situated in the main corridor opposite the well and if you need any assistance in booking or directions we'll be glad to help.
